Pope set for new Burnley deal

Nick Pope’s week is about to get even better – after he agreed new terms on a deal with Burnley.
The 26-year-old keeper, who made his England debut in the second-half of the Three Lions’ victory over Costa Rica on Thursday, is already heading to the World Cup finals after a meteoric rise.
And he will do so with an improved pay deal in his back pocket and a year’s extension to his deal which now runs to 2021.
It caps a staggering season for the keeper who only made his debut in the Premier League after replacing Tom Heaton last September.
He was soon handed a deal that kept him at Turf Moor until 2020 and on the back of a string of impressive displays forced his way into Gareth Southgate’s squad, as exclusively revealed in People Sport
Now Burnley are ready to let Heaton leave and have kept Pope sweet with his second pay hike in six months in recognition of his progress.
Pope, who worked as a milkman after being released from the professional game as a teenager, has left his agents to press ahead on his behalf and the improved contract will be ready for his signature when he returns from Russia.
